July 14, 2020

In an effort to proceed with regathering in person in the safest timing that meets the needs of the majority of our church community, we are planning to regather in phases as follows:

July 19: Livestream Service/Prayer Gathering – Our 10:30 service will be livestreamed. Then, join us for a 1-hour outdoor prayer gathering at 5:00pm at the New Life campus as we come to God in corporate prayer for our church during these unique times. Meet by the picnic tables at the West drive-up circle and bring a lawn chair. Ice cream treats will be served! We will have social distancing measures in place, with separation between each family unit. In the event of rain, the prayer gathering will be rescheduled or cancelled. RSVP via the weekly email, or email office@nlcwoodbury.org.

July 26: Outdoor Service/Livestream Message – We will join together for an outdoor service at 10:30am in compliance with current government guidelines. Bring a lawn chair and join us in the West circle (by the Worship Center entrance) as we gather in person, or watch the message on livestream. In the event of inclement weather, we will livestream the entire service and not gather in person. As there is a limit of 250 in attendance for an outdoor gathering, please RSVP via the weekly email, or email office@nlcwoodbury.org. Masks are strongly encouraged. Childcare not provided.

August 2: Indoor Service/Livestream Service – We plan to gather together in the Worship Center for our 10:30am service, in compliance with current government guidelines. Watch for more details.

We will continue to livestream our Sunday morning service each week for those who do not yet feel comfortable regathering in person.

As information continues to be updated about COVID-19 safety standards, plans may need to be changed accordingly. Our desire is to keep the safety of our church community as a top priority as we continue planning to regather in person.

Current Status: The building is closed to all services, groups and activities. Our service each Sunday is livestreamed here at 10:30am. The Church Office is closed for public access, but you can call (651-459-0444) or email (office@nlcwoodbury.org) and your messages will be received and returned Monday-Friday.

With the Stay Safe MN order currently in place, all in-person church gatherings and activities are currently suspended. As our COVID-19 Task Force plans for what reopening our in-person gatherings will look like, we will continue to follow government guidelines and, when we reopen, we want to do it well – with planning and care. We will take a phased approach to reopening in the interest of safety for our entire church community. And we will seek feedback from you in that process. Watch for updates here and via email.

As the Stay-at-Home order expires and the Stay Safe MN order begins May 18, in-person gatherings are limited to under 10 people. At this time we do not plan to meet in person for any size gatherings until at least the beginning of June. As you are likely aware, and as the CDC graph below from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) shows, efforts for intentional social distancing are being made in order to reduce and slow down progression of COVID-19, making it possible for our health care system to absorb the demand.

What can you do to help prevent the spread of flu, colds, and viruses?  The CDC recommends following these preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Put distance between yourself and other people.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
  • The CDC and MDH update the public as soon as new information is available on their websites.  Please use these sources to ensure you have the latest and most accurate information.

As you know, the circumstances surrounding COVID-19 remain fluid with new information and recommendations being released hourly. We will send further email updates and post on our social sites as needed depending on the urgency and impact of the latest recommendations from the MDH, local health officials and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

These are uncertain times, but we have a God who is in control. Let’s focus on God’s promises and on praying for His healing, peace, protection and guidance.

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. – Psalm 46:1

For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. – Psalm 100:5

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:6-7

If you have questions, please email office@nlcwoodbury.org.

Based on updated information and recommendations from Federal and Regional agencies regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, below is information on decisions made by New Life Church leadership that impacts us gathering together as a church community.

The MN Dept. of Health (MDH) recommends postponing and canceling large events where 250 people or more would gather and faith-based organizations offering video or audio events.

Therefore, this weekend, March 14 and 15:

  • All New Life Church gatherings and activities are canceled…
  • However, we invite you to join us Sunday at 10:30am via livestream as we do intend to broadcast worship music and message by Pastor Grant Lilly at 10:30am.
  • Early next week, further updates will be provided as to the status of future activities beyond this weekend.

  • The Fry Memorial Service scheduled at New Life Church at 2:00pm on Sunday will be held; attendance at that service should be determined at your own discretion.

    PAST UPDATES

    New Life Community:

We want to provide an update regarding the concerns surrounding COVID-19 (coronavirus) as the safety of NLC families is our priority.

There is a known case of COVID-19 within a family in our church. Please read the following details carefully:

  • The person who tested positive for COVID-19 became ill on Feb. 28 following travel abroad and is mostly recovered and doing fine now.
  • The person self-quarantined to their basement and there was minimal exposure to the immediate family members. Those family members are not exhibiting any symptoms and are being monitored by the MN Dept. of Health (MDH).
  • Those family members attended an NLC life group on March 1 and have not attended NLC services since their minimal exposure on Feb. 28. Those who have been directly impacted are now aware.
  • Members of that life group who had indirect exposure to the minimally exposed family members attended the NLC service on Sunday, March 8.

  • Important information we want you to know:

  • There has been no known direct contact at NLC with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19. The status based on these events is considered minimal risk of exposure for the NLC community; however, out of an abundance of caution, we are notifying you of the events especially in consideration of those with compromised immune systems.
  • We understand the need for caution in gatherings at this time. We will follow guidelines of local officials on whether to cancel our gatherings in the future. At this time we will meet corporately as planned. If you are not present at Sunday services, you can join us on our livestream.
  • We will avoid physical contact with one another when we gather (e.g. shaking hands, hugging, etc.).
  • Work with your small group leaders to determine the best course of action for your individual group meetings.

  • In addition, this information was sent out to New Life Academy families and is also pertinent to New Life Church attendees:

  • We continue to stay aware of the latest information from public health professionals from World Health Organization (WHO), Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and the MDH to ensure we are aware of the most recent updates on COVID-19. The health and safety of our families is our priority. While the total number of coronavirus cases in the United States remains relatively small, experts expect this number to grow as testing increases and more individuals seek care.
  • Currently, the key recommendations from public health agencies to prevent the spread of coronavirus, flu and respiratory illnesses are regular, thorough hand washing and that symptomatic individuals remain home rather than going to school or public places. New Life Academy has implemented the following to increase awareness and protect our school community while on campus:
  • We have increased the frequency of sanitizing touched surfaces, doorknobs, and banisters.
  • We are ensuring that there is soap in all dispensers and encouraging everyone about the importance of hand washing.
  • During Spring Break, we will be doing a deeper disinfecting procedure that will utilize a broad-spectrum fogger that will sanitize hard and soft surfaces as well as hard to reach places.

  • What can you do to help prevent the spread of flu, colds, and viruses? The CDC recommends following these preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
For those who are traveling over spring break, please review recommendations related to travels and COVID-19.
  • Any further communication needed about COVID-19 will be sent by separate email.

  • Pray for God’s peace to reign in these unique times. If you have questions, please email office@nlcwoodbury.org.
